Objectives (Educational Content) :

1. Describe the symptoms associated with iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. 2. Identify the correct laboratory tests to evaluate for iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. 3. Summarize appropriate treatment strategies for iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.

Identified Gap:

Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia are common in the pediatric population and are underrecognized and can have long term health implications. Further guidance is needed to assist primary care providers with recognizing signs and symptoms for these conditions, as well as improve knowledge on management.
