Objectives
- Gain knowledge of the unique factors essential to the evaluation of children and adolescents
- Recognize and diagnose common child psychiatric disorders
- Develop the ability to establish rapport with children, adolescents and their families
- Develop interview skills to elicit essential data from children and families
- Demonstrate the ability to perform mental status examinations
- Demonstrate the ability to develop psychiatric formulations and treatment plans
- Improve the ability to present psychiatric cases
Description
- Interview patients under the direct supervision of an attending child psychiatrist
- Complete patient progress notes for follow-up patients
- Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings for our inpatient unit and partial hospitalization program (PHP)
- Attend and participate in different modality of group therapies in inpatient unit and PHP
- Attend family sessions in inpatient unit and family therapy sessions in PHP
- Attend monthly Journal Club and clinical case presentations
- Night call/special requirements: None
