Objectives (Educational Content) :
1. Identify common adolescent elbow and shoulder sport injuries. 2. Teach the physician on which adolescent shoulder and elbow injuries would be best for direct sports rehab referral versus sports medicine referral versus orthopedic referral. 3. Evaluate the different approaches to adolescent shoulder and elbow injuries in regard to sports rehab.
Target Audience:
General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.
Identified Gap:
Healthcare providers managing adolescent athletes may face challenges in accurately identifying common shoulder and elbow injuries and determining the most appropriate referral pathway—sports rehab, sports medicine, or orthopedics. Additionally, there is a need for greater familiarity with evidence-based rehab strategies tailored to adolescent musculoskeletal development. This activity aims to enhance clinical decision-making and referral accuracy, improving outcomes through timely and appropriate care.
