Objectives (Educational Content) :

1. Recognize the energy needs of an adolescent athlete from a macro and micronutrient standpoint.

2. Demonstrate an understanding of supplementation safety.

3. Identify common nutrition-related sports concerns and evaluate nutrition intervention strategies.

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.

Identified Gap:

Healthcare providers working with adolescent athletes may lack current, evidence-based knowledge regarding nutrient timing, supplementation safety, and sport-specific nutrition concerns. These gaps can lead to inadequate fueling strategies, misuse of supplements, and missed opportunities to optimize performance and recovery.
