Pediatric Sports Medicine Elective

We offer a 4-week pediatric subspecialty elective in sports medicine to 4th year medical students.

Objectives

Recognize common acute and chronic injuries in pediatric athletes.
Understand treatment options for a variety of musculoskeletal injuries.
Communicate signs, symptoms, and treatment options for concussion.

Description

Students will see a variety of musculoskeletal injuries, primarily in pediatric athletes, both chronic and acute, as well as concussion. Opportunities to see procedures (landmark guided injections, ultrasound guided injections), game coverage, training room dependent on availability and time of year.
