Pediatric Orthopedics Elective

We offer a 4-week surgical subspecialty elective in pediatric orthopedics to 4th year medical students.

Objective

  • Provide exposure to the nonsurgical and surgical evaluation and management of common pediatric orthopedic conditions, diseases and injuries

Description

  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient orthopedic evaluation, management and care
  • Gain exposure and experience in the outpatient setting to common pediatric orthopedic disorders and traumatic injuries
  • Gain experience in the inpatient setting, ED and OR
  • Participate in orthopedic surgery didactic residency conference schedule
  • Night call/special requirements: Call taken with orthopedic surgery resident only by those medical students with an interest in pursuing a residency in orthopedic surgery
