Pediatric Infectious Disease Elective

We offer a 4-week pediatric subspecialty elective in infectious disease to 4th year medical students.

Objectives

  • Gain an understanding of basic concepts in the diagnosis and management of common pediatric infectious illnesses
  • Review medical microbiology of clinical relevance
  • Develop expertise in antibiotic therapy for pediatric patients

Description

  • Evaluate pediatric infectious disease consults daily
  • Follow patients on the pediatric infectious disease service
  • Examine the bacteriology plates from those patients
  • Night call/special requirements: None
