Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Elective

We offer a 4-week pediatric subspecialty elective in developmental-behavioral pediatrics to 4th year medical students.

Objectives

Describe developmental milestones from infancy through young adulthood.
Recognize typical and atypical development and behavior.
Increase skills in diagnosis, management, and treatment of developmental/behavioral disorders in pediatric patients.
Identify consultation and referral sources for developmental behavioral pediatrics within the hospital and in the community.

Description

This elective is designed to provide the student with opportunities to increase knowledge and skills related to developmental and behavioral pediatric (DBP) care.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in general DBP clinics as well as interdisciplinary clinics, including Down Syndrome Clinic, Spina Bifida Clinic, Dyslexia Clinic, and Autism Diagnostic Clinic.
