Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Elective
We offer a 4-week pediatric subspecialty elective in developmental-behavioral pediatrics to 4th year medical students.
Objectives
- Describe developmental milestones from infancy through young adulthood.
- Recognize typical and atypical development and behavior.
- Increase skills in diagnosis, management, and treatment of developmental/behavioral disorders in pediatric patients.
- Identify consultation and referral sources for developmental behavioral pediatrics within the hospital and in the community.
Description
- This elective is designed to provide the student with opportunities to increase knowledge and skills related to developmental and behavioral pediatric (DBP) care.
- Students will have the opportunity to participate in general DBP clinics as well as interdisciplinary clinics, including Down Syndrome Clinic, Spina Bifida Clinic, Dyslexia Clinic, and Autism Diagnostic Clinic.
