Advanced Practice Providers

We employ nearly 400 advanced practice nurses (APNs) and physician assistants (PAs). APNs include certified registered nurse practitioners (CNP), clinical nurse specialists (CNS), certified nurse midwives (CNM), and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA).

Most of our advanced practice providers hold master’s degrees or doctorates, and are board certified to practice at an advanced level by a national certifying organization.

APNs and PAs are granted a certificate of authority by the Ohio Board of Nursing or Medicine, and are credentialed and granted privileges by the Medical Staff Board at Akron Children’s, where they serve as members of the medical staff.

From our outpatient departments and inpatient hospital and intensive care units, to more than 70 primary care offices, Akron Children’s APNs and PAs are working to deliver high quality patient care.
