Cause for Rejection:
Stool specimen >2 hours at room temperature or >24 hours at 2-8C. Sticks left in container will dry out stool. Stools collected >3 days of hospitalization
Refrigerated. <2 hours at room temperature. <24 hours at 2-8C
Special Instructions:
Collect whole stool (minimum - swab) and place in a Stool container, or Rectal swab in Eswab transport tube if patient cannot produce stool.
Preliminary report available after 24 hours

NOTE: This culture is for Plesiomonas only. For other stool pathogens including Plesiomonas, please order Enteric culture (LAB223).
