This assay is intended for use in the (early) detection of pregnancy. 

HCG values double every 2-3 days for the first six (6) weeks of normal pregnancy. 

Decreasing HCG concentrations may indicate: threatened or missed abortion; recent termination of pregnancy; ectopic pregnancy; or intrauterine demise (fetal demise). 

False positives/false HCG elevation(s) may occur in patients with heterophile antibodies (human anti-animal antibodies). 

This test is NOT approved to detect (or monitor) either gestational trophoblastic disease or tumors (tumor marker).
