Objectives (Educational Content) :

1. List the degrees of burns and their basic differentiation

2. Describe the initial management of thermal, chemical and electrical burns

3. Recognize the criteria for urgent vs. non-urgent evaluation of burn injuries

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.

Identified Gap:

Primary care providers may have limited experience in differentiating burn severity, initiating appropriate management for various types of burns (thermal, chemical, electrical), and determining when urgent evaluation is necessary. These gaps can lead to delays in care, inappropriate referrals, or suboptimal treatment.
