More about David Cahill, MD, FAAP

Objectives (Educational Content) :

1. Recognize how well Akron Children's Hospital Pediatrics is doing with respect to accurate CPT code selection and compare how this has improved over the last 2 years.

2.Discuss obstacles to accurate CPT coding.

3.Learn new ways to improve coding distribution.

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.

Identified Gap:

Although Akron Children’s Hospital Pediatrics has demonstrated improvement in CPT coding accuracy over the past two years, variability in code selection and coding distribution remains across providers. Current practice does not consistently reflect visit complexity or documentation standards, in part due to obstacles such as evolving CPT guidelines, time constraints, and documentation challenges. As a result, a gap exists between actual and optimal practice, highlighting the need for targeted education to increase awareness of performance trends, address barriers to accurate coding, and equip providers with practical strategies to improve coding consistency and distribution.
