Objectives (Educational Content) :
1. Understand the benefits and implement the early introduction of food allergens in infancy for the primary prevention of food allergy.
2. Identify evolving treatment options for food allergies and compare to the current standard of care.
3. Recognize factors that can affect food allergen reactivity thresholds and how this can affect food allergy management.
Target Audience:
General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.
Identified Gap:
Despite evolving evidence supporting early allergen introduction and the availability of emerging therapeutic approaches for IgE-mediated food allergies, many clinicians continue to rely on outdated prevention strategies, have limited familiarity with newly available and investigational treatment options, and may not fully incorporate factors that influence allergen reactivity thresholds into individualized patient management. As a result, opportunities to prevent food allergy development, optimize treatment selection, and improve patient outcomes may be missed. This gap reflects differences between current clinical practice and evidence-based standards for the prevention and management of IgE-mediated food allergies.
