Grand Rounds: Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip: Burden of Disease, Diagnosis, and Screening

Objectives (Educational Content) :

1. Describe the different forms of hip dysplasia and their long-term effects.

2. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of different screening programs for DDH.

3. Summarize the basic treatment options for infantile hip dysplasia.

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.

Identified Gap:

Healthcare providers may have limited familiarity with the spectrum of hip dysplasia forms, their long-term consequences, and the comparative effectiveness of available screening programs. Additionally, gaps in understanding current treatment options for infantile hip dysplasia can lead to delayed diagnosis and suboptimal management.
