The Family Child Learning Center Regional Infant Hearing Program provides free services to families with infants and toddlers who are hearing impaired. These services are offered in collaboration with Help Me Grow and other community resources. The FCLC program is one of 10 regional programs across Ohio.

The program features parent advisors who provide communication-based intervention through home visits. Their emphasis is on family involvement through play and daily routines. These parent advisors have backgrounds in audiology, speech-language therapy, or deaf education and are SKI*HI certified.

Families of children from newborn to age 3 receive:

  • Information regarding the impact that being deaf or hearing impaired has on speech and language development
  • Information regarding hearing aids, cochlear implants and communication options
  • Strategies to promote hearing and communication skills
  • Links to community resources and additional service providers
  • Assistance in transition to preschool
  • Opportunities to meet other families
