About Bridges Out Of Poverty

Akron Children’s Hospital participates in Bridges Summit County, a collaborative initiative that provides a framework to help employers, community organizations, social service agencies and individuals learn how to effectively reach and support adults and families who are striving to go from financial dependence to independence. United Way of Summit County serves as the lead agency of this initiative. For information about Bridges Summit County go to http://www.uwsummit.org/bridges/about.

Akron Children’s provides a Bridges Out of Poverty training for our staff. This 4-hour training is designed to foster a deeper understanding of the challenges and strengths of our patients and their families living in generational poverty. Staff learn principles for improving outcomes with individuals from generational poverty and about how economic realities impact patterns of living.
