The U.S. Census is conducted every 10 years to collect data about our population.  This helps determine how over $675 billion dollars will be distributed nationally and how over $21 billion will be distributed in Ohio.  These funds will be used for programs and support services for children and their families.  The Census also determines the number of seats Ohio has in the U. S. House of Representatives.  It is predicted that Ohio will lose one seat in Congress due to the population count in recent years.

What Akron Children’s Hospital is doing for the U.S. Census

Akron Children’s is committed to bringing education and awareness of the U.S. Census to our employees and the families we serve.  We understand that as a trusted organization in our community we have an opportunity and obligation to share the impact of the U.S. Census on each and every one of us.

Census Champions have been appointed throughout the organization that are tasked with bringing the awareness of the U.S. Census to our coworkers, our patient families, and our community.  These individuals will be wearing a button to let others know they can ask answer questions about the U.S. Census.

April 1st is Census Day.  Akron Children’s will have information tables located throughout the Akron campus, Mahoning Valley campus and several of our Health Centers.  Be sure to stop at one of our tables on April 1 for more information.
