Watch for traffic changes on Bowery Street in August

08-16-2017 (Akron, Ohio )

AKRON, Ohio - Construction continues on the Considine Professional Building Addition, and as part of that project, the main connector on our Akron campus will be extended across Bowery Street to the professional building. Here's what patients and other visitors can expect in the weeks to come.

Aug. 19: The Grand Revolver (main hospital entrance) driveway will close for 3 weeks, reopening on Sept. 13. During this time, patient drop-off at the Grand Revolver will be diverted to the Bowery Street Parking Deck or the Kay Jewelers Pavilion main entrance turnaround.

  • A guard will be on duty on Bowery Street to direct traffic for patient drop-offs.
  • Temporary signage will be in place.
  • Patients will be discharged to the Bowery deck.
  • Delivery drivers should be diverted to the old ER entrance on Locust Street.

Aug. 28: The sidewalk parallel to the Considine Professional Building will close for 1 week, and reopen on Sept. 3. During this time, the entrance into the Considine building will be through the Bowery deck.

Sept. 9: Bowery Street will be closed from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. for the placement of the new connector across the street.

During this time, it is imperative that staff use the existing walking bridge over Bowery Street, as crossing the street will become even more difficult.
