Geneticists Abdulrazak Alali, M.D., and Jason Laufman, M.D., recently joined Akron Children’s Hospital.
Clinical and biochemical geneticist Dr. Alali recently completed a fellowship in medical biochemical genetics at Emory University in Atlanta. Prior to that, he completed residencies in genetics at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York, and in pediatrics at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
He received his medical degree from the University of Aleppo Faculty of Medicine in Aleppo, Syria.
Dr. Alali lives in Hudson with his wife and three children.
Geneticist Dr. Laufman will see patients in both the Mahoning Valley and Akron. He recently completed his residency in pediatrics and medical genetics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. His medical degree is from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He also earned a master’s degree in genetic counseling from Wayne State. His undergraduate degree in molecular genetics is from The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Dr. Laufman resides in Kent.
Akron Children’s Genetic Center offers genetic testing, genetic counseling and diagnostic evaluation and medical management of genetic conditions, birth defects and developmental delays. The center has a special focus on preconception and hereditary cancers, and works with specialty clinics for cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, metabolic disorders, sickle cell disease, spina bifida and skeletal dysplasias.
