Pediatric audiology services available at Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman

07-16-2018 (Mahoning Valley, Ohio )

Audiology services for children and young adults will be offered at Akron Children’s Hospital’s Beeghly Campus starting July 30.

The new service in Boardman is in addition to the audiology services that Akron Children’s already provides in the Mahoning Valley in Warren. In both offices, services are provided by Kathryn Freeland, AuD, CCC-A.

Akron Children’s audiology team diagnoses and treats hearing loss in infants, children, teens and young adults. Specialists can help identify hearing loss, provide access to hearing aids and coordinate follow-up services for intervention, monitoring and ongoing evaluations.

Extensive audiology services now in Boardman include comprehensive hearing evaluation, behavioral audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emission testing, auditory processing evaluations, diagnostic Auditory Brainstem Evoked Response (ABR) testing and Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR) audiometry.

In addition, a complete range of hearing aid types, including digital and bone-anchored hearing aids, are available at the Boardman office. Any child under 18 or with an underlying medical condition must first receive medical clearance from an otolaryngologist before a hearing aid evaluation and fitting.

The Boardman office is located at 6505 Market St. in Building C, Suite 2160. To reach the office, call 330-746-9377.

The Warren office is located at Akron Children’s Hospital Rehabilitative Services, 5000 E. Market St., Suite 28. The phone number is 330-856-8050.
