Pediatric cardiologist joins Akron Children’s Hospital

Vanessa Hormaza, M.D., has joined Akron Children’s Hospital as a pediatric cardiologist in the hospital’s Pediatric Cardiology Department.

Dr. Hormaza received her doctorate in medicine after studying at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She also has a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from The University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, where she also completed her pediatric residency. Dr. Hormaza’s pediatric cardiology fellowship was at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Dr. Hormaza resides in Twinsburg.

The Pediatric Cardiology Department provides comprehensive, compassionate care to more than 10,000 patients a year. Its goal is to give children the best possible chance for a healthy future through the early diagnosis and repair of pediatric heart defects. The department also offers a fetal cardiology program to identify congenital heart defects in unborn babies, and continues to provide ongoing care for adults born with heart problems.
