Paul N. Olivier to lead Akron Children’s Hospital in Mahoning Valley

01-19-2021 (Mahoning Valley, Ohio)

Akron Children’s Hospital has named Paul N. Olivier vice president of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.

Olivier, a Boardman resident, began his new role yesterday. He is the second Akron Children’s vice president in the Valley, succeeding Sharon Hrina, who retired in October.

In this role, Olivier will oversee all aspects of Akron Children’s operations in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, which includes pediatric and specialty care and the Beeghly campus in Boardman.

Olivier comes to Akron Children’s Hospital with more than 25 years of experience in health care management and leadership. He most recently was the chief network integration officer for the Great Lakes Group of Bon Secours Mercy Health. With Bon Secours Mercy Health Youngstown, he held roles including senior vice president of physician enterprises and business development, as well as chief network integration officer and chief quality officer. Since 2008, he also led government relations efforts to advance the health care system’s goals with local, state and federal officials.

“Paul’s extensive health care expertise and commitment to the region stood out to us,” said Lisa Aurilio, chief operating officer of Akron Children’s Hospital. “His varied experience leading health care organizations in quality, business development and government relations will be an asset as we continue to grow and provide care to more children in the Youngstown area.”

"The Valley is extremely fortunate to have Akron Children's Hospital here, dedicated to the care of children and young adults,” Olivier said. “I'm delighted and proud to join Akron Children's in their mission to improve the health of our young people and also the community."

Olivier has also held positions at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh; Humility of Mary Health Partners in Youngstown; and Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2004, Olivier earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, and his master’s in health services administration from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Olivier is an active member in the Youngstown community. He serves as a commissioner with Mill Creek MetroParks and is a graduate of Leadership Mahoning Valley.

Olivier has lived in Boardman since 2000 with his wife, Laura, and their two daughters, Anna and Catherine.
