IHOP's National Pancake Day to benefit Akron Children's Hospital

02-28-2017 (Mahoning Valley, Ohio )

IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer guests a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes on March 7, 2017 for National Pancake Day in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities. Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley is the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

Local IHOP locations in Boardman, 833 Boardman-Poland Rd. and Niles, 1980 Niles-Cortland Rd., will be participating. For every free order served that day from 7 a.m.-8 p.m., IHOP guests are invited to make a voluntary donation.

Miracle Balloons will be sold for $1 and $5 each, and can be personalized and displayed at participating IHOP restaurants leading up to National Pancake Day, offering guests another way to contribute to the National Pancake Day fundraising effort.

“IHOP has always been a great Children’s Miracle Network partner,” said Kelsey Moreton, development coordinator at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. “While National Pancake Day is their most recognizable day of giving to children’s hospitals, their month campaign leading up to this day along with their volunteering efforts and in-kind donations of pancakes for hospital events does not go unnoticed.”

Since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP restaurants have raised nearly $24 million to support charities in the communities in which it operates. IHOP’s goal in 2017 is to raise $3.5 million dollars for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities. Locally, IHOP raised more than $8,000 last year with a total of $36,000 raised over the past nine years.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the saving and improving lives of children by raising funds for hospitals across the country. Akron Children's is a founding member of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
