Dr. Nguyen joins Akron Children's as dermatology director

Nicholas Nguyen, M.D., has joined Akron Children’s as director of the department of Dermatology.  

Following medical school at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Dr. Nguyen completed a pediatrics residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He then completed a dermatology residency at the University of Colorado and a pediatric dermatology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Akron Children’s Dermatology department diagnoses and treats infants, children and teens with eczema, warts, acne and other dermatological conditions. The clinical team is specially trained in conditions of the skin, hair and nails. Surgical services include skin biopsy; laser treatment of port-wine stain birthmarks and warts; and excision of moles, cysts and other benign skin lesions. The department will also begin offering phototherapy services in 2017. 

Dr. Nguyen also sees patients in Akron Children’s new Vascular Anomalies Clinic, which includes a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a pediatric interventional radiologist. The team brings a multi-disciplinary focus to treating children with vascular birthmarks.

Dr. Nguyen's other clinical and research interests include melanoma, hyperhidrosis, vitiligo and genetic skin diseases.

A native of Dover, Ohio, Dr. Nguyen currently resides in Hinckley with his wife, Katie, and their son, Luke.
