Dr. Jeyakumar to head up Pediatric Otolaryngology at Akron Children’s

Anita Jeyakumar, MD, joined Akron Children’s as director of pediatric otolaryngology in the Ear, Nose and Throat Center on June 11.

Dr. Jeyakumar replaces the previous director, Dr. Anton Milo, who will continue to see patients in Akron Children’s Ear, Nose and Throat Center.

Most recently, Dr. Jeyakumar was section chief of pediatric otolaryngology at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia. She also served as the clinic’s director of the Cochlear Implant Program and as an associate professor at Virginia Tech-Carilion School of Medicine

Following medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Jeyakumar completed her internship in general surgery and residency in otolaryngology at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Her clinical fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology was at the Cleveland Clinic.

Pediatric hearing loss, pediatric ear disease, cochlear implantation, pediatric airway disease and pediatric thyroid disease are among Dr. Jeyakumar’s special areas of interest and scholarship. She provides advocacy as a State Champion for Ohio for the American Cochlear Implant Alliance and is actively involved in pediatric care at the state and national level.

Dr. Jeyakumar resides in Akron with her husband and two sons.
