Brian Schroer, M.D., has joined Akron Children’s Hospital as director of allergy and immunology.
In his new role, Dr. Schroer oversees the department’s staff of physicians, nurse practitioners and dietitians as well as directs the care of patients in Akron and several regional locations. Akron Children's Hospital’s Center for Allergy and Immunology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of allergies, asthma and other diseases related to a dysfunction of the immune system in children, teens and adults.
Dr. Schroer joins Akron Children’s after serving as a staff physician at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital in pediatric allergy and immunology. Prior to that, he was a fellow in allergy and immunology at Cleveland Clinic. He completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Dr. Schroer earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa and a bachelor of science degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. His clinical interests include all aspects of pediatric and adult allergy and immunology with a focus on food allergy.
He has also been an assistant professor in pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland since 2012. In addition, Dr. Schroer is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics and allergy and immunology.
Dr. Schroer and his wife, Dr. Corinne Bazella, are the parents of two sons and reside in Orange.
