Akron Children's welcomes pediatric rheumatologist

Kathryn Phillippi, DO, has joined Akron Children’s Hospital as a pediatric rheumatologist.

After graduating from medical school at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Dr. Phillippi completed her residency in pediatrics at Akron Children’s. She completed a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.

Dr. Phillippi is board certified in pediatrics. She has a special clinical interest in juvenile dermatomyositis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Akron Children’s Division of Rheumatology specializes in treating complex diseases affecting or compromising the immune system, often in consultation with other pediatric specialists at Akron Children’s. The division’s staff is also actively involved in researching new methods and medications for treating many of these diseases.

Dr. Phillippi lives in Copley with her family.
