Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley surpassed the $20 million milestone in money raised since the opening of the Beeghly campus in December 2008. To date, Mahoning Valley donors have contributed $20.4 million to support programs and services that benefit local children and families.

Many of the hospital’s prominent donors, volunteers, staff and community partners will be recognized at the 2017 Champions for Our Valley’s Children event Tuesday, May 9 at The Lake Club in Poland.

“The generous support that we’ve received from individuals, businesses and foundations has truly been humbling,” said JoAnn Stock, senior director of development. “The support of the community has helped us to grow and expand the programs and services that are available to our local children and families.”

James H. Sisek, Esq., is being honored at the Champions event for his ongoing support, generosity and advocacy for the hospital. Six individuals and organizations will receive the Children’s Advocate Award.

Additionally, the hospital is at the midway point of its Vision for Our Valley’s Children Campaign, which launched on the 5th anniversary of the opening of the hospital’s Beeghly campus in December 2013. The campaign is designed to provide philanthropic support for the Mahoning Valley Strategic Growth Plan.

Each dollar raised during the 2013-2020 timeframe is included in the campaign and will be used to support one of four focus areas: basic annual needs, facility and campus improvements, people and programs, and legacy and endowment. The campaign has raised $14.5 million toward a goal of $25 million.
