Akron Children's Hospital welcomes pediatric GI specialist

Christine Carter-Kent, MD, has joined Akron Children’s Hospital as a pediatric gastroenterologist. She previously served as a pediatric gastroenterologist at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

After receiving her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Dr. Carter-Kent completed her pediatric residency and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital.

She is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology. Her medical interests include fatty liver disease, obesity and inflammatory bowel disease.

Akron Children’s Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology diagnoses and treats infants, children and teens with gastrointestinal diseases, such as Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, gastroesophageal reflux and irritable bowel syndrome.

Dr. Carter-Kent resides in Akron with her husband and two children.
