Akron Children’s earns fifth Plain Dealer Top Workplaces honors

06-17-2019 (Akron, Mahoning Valley, Ohio )

Akron Children’s Hospital has been recognized as a Top Workplace by the Cleveland Plain Dealer for the fifth year in a row. The Top Workplaces honor is based entirely on employee feedback through a survey administered by Energage, LLC, a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture such as alignment, connection and execution.

Seventy-one percent of the Children’s employees who received the survey completed the questionnaire. Employees gave the hospital high marks in several areas including: Values (Akron Children’s Hospital operates by strong values), Direction (I believe Akron Children’s Hospital is going in the right direction) and Open-mindedness (Akron Children’s Hospital encourages different points of view).

“Our leadership team is truly humbled to receive an award that is based solely on employee feedback,” said Rhonda Larimore, chief human resources officer at Akron Children’s. “As Akron Children’s continues to grow, our employees remain passionate about serving children and families. Their dedication to our mission at every level of our organization illustrates their understanding that working here truly is more than a job.”

“The Top Workplaces award is more than recognition,” said Energage CEO Doug Claffey. “Our research shows organizations that earn this award attract better talent, experience lower turnover and are better equipped to deliver bottom-line results. Their leaders prioritize and carefully craft a healthy workplace culture that supports employee engagement.”

The Plain Dealer published the complete list of Top Workplaces on June 16. For more information about the Top Workplaces lists and Workplace Dynamics, please visit www.topworkplaces.com.
