Akron Children's to relocate its Whipple Avenue rehabilitative services office

10-09-2018 (Akron, Ohio )

The Canton office of Akron Children’s Hospital Rehabilitative Services – currently located at 5156 Whipple Ave. – is moving. The new office will be at 4200 Munson St., Suite C, in Canton and will open Oct. 30.

Akron Children’s therapists work with infants, children and teens who require therapy following an illness or injury. Therapists also help patients manage the effects of chronic conditions including cerebral palsy, spina bifida or an autism spectrum disorder.

“Our occupational, physical and speech therapists are specially trained to care for pediatric patients,” said Mary Marino, Akron Children’s Hospital director of rehabilitative services. “We provide the full spectrum of therapy needs, from newborns with feeding disorders to toddlers with developmental delays to children with learning problems.”

The new Canton location will provide more treatment space and ample parking. However, it is just a temporary location until the new Akron Children’s Health Center, North Canton opens at 6076 Whipple Ave. in 2019.

“When we move into the new health center in 2019, we’ll have primary care, rehabilitative services and a variety of specialty services building,” Marino said. “It will be so convenient for Stark County families to have multiple Akron Children’s services under one roof.”

Rehabilitative services at the Munson Street location will be available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 330-478-1752. A physician’s order for therapy is required.
