Rhonda Larimore joined Akron Children’s Hospital June 1 as chief human resources officer. In this role, Larimore will oversee the development and implementation of human resources policies, programs and services that support the hospital’s mission, vision and service orientation.

Larimore comes to Akron Children’s Hospital with more than 20 years of experience in human resources, having most recently served as the vice president of human resources at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she held a variety of roles since 2002. Her specialty areas include employee relations, on-boarding, talent acquisition and management, employee safety, inclusion and workplace culture. She led and/or co-led numerous large scale system-wide human resources projects in her previous position.

Larimore earned a bachelor's degree in business management/human resources management from Carlow University in Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania. She holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Senior Certified Professional.

“Rhonda will be an asset to Akron Children’s,” said Grace Wakulchik, president of Akron Children’s Hospital. “We know we will benefit from her expertise in linking organizational values and culture to employee engagement as well as her passion for pediatric healthcare.”

“I’m proud to join the Akron community and Akron Children’s Hospital,” Larimore said. “I’ve seen firsthand how fortunate communities are to have an excellent children’s hospital in their backyard. This opportunity provides me with a great opportunity to positively impact the work environment for the employees of Akron Children’s, which will ultimately result in the continued great care to our patients and their families.”

Larimore and her husband, Jason, are the parents of two college-age children. The couple is living in Akron’s Northside District.
