2016 Holiday Tree Festival raises $240,000 for Akron Children's Hospital

01-16-2017 (Akron, Ohio )

The 35th annual Holiday Tree Festival, which took place this past November, raised $240,000 for the patient care programs at Akron Children’s Hospital.

“The volunteers are at the heart of the Holiday Tree Festival,” said Vicki Parisi, director of volunteer and visitor services at Akron Children's Hospital. “We could not have this type of success without their continued dedication.”

The amount was announced at a thank you luncheon on Jan. 11 for the volunteers, who have presented the festival to the community since it began in 1982. The Holiday Tree Festival is believed to be the longest running tree festival presented by volunteers in the United States and has raised more than $5.4 million for the hospital.

"Many thanks to all the volunteers who give generously of their time and talent to make the Holiday Tree Festival a success," said Liz Lenke, chairman of the 2016 Holiday Tree Festival. “It’s all for the kids!”

Plans are already underway for the 36th annual 2017 Holiday Tree Festival, which will be held Nov. 18 - 26, 2017 at the John S. Knight Center. For more information, visit akronchildrens.org/treefestival.
