2015 Holiday Tree Festival raises $257,000 for Akron Children's Hospital

01-22-2016 (Akron, Ohio )

The 34th annual Holiday Tree Festival raised $257,000 for the patient care programs at Akron Children’s Hospital.

“The volunteers’ year-round commitment to the Holiday Tree Festival is the reason it continues to be such a success,” said Mary Leuca, chairman of the 2015 Holiday Tree Festival. “We are so proud to once again make a donation to Akron Children's Hospital, which will help countless patients and their families.”

The amount was announced at a thank you luncheon on Jan. 13 for the volunteers, who have presented the festival to the community since it began in 1982. The Holiday Tree Festival is believed to be the longest running tree festival presented by volunteers in the United States and has raised more than $5.2 million for the hospital.

“The volunteers are at the heart of the Holiday Tree Festival,” said Vicki Parisi, director of volunteer and visitor services at Akron Children's Hospital. “We could not have this type of success without their continued dedication.”

Plans are already underway for the 35th annual 2016 Holiday Tree Festival, which will be held Nov. 19 - 27, 2016 at the John S. Knight Center. For more information, visit akronchildrens.org/treefestival.
