Akron Children’s Hospital welcomes pediatric endocrinologist

Rathna Mandalapu, M.D., has joined Akron Children’s Hospital as a pediatric endocrinologist in the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology.

After receiving her medical degree from Madras Medical College in Tamil Nadu, India, she completed her internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Wayne State University’s Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI. She went on to complete her fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.

Akron Children's Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology offers diagnostic, treatment and consulting services for infants, children and teens with diabetes, endocrine disorders and growth problems led by a team of board-certified pediatric endocrinologists, certified nurse practitioners and pediatric nurses.

Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education, the center is backed by a full-service lab, registered dietitians, social workers, a child psychologist and others. The most common endocrine disorders treated by the team are diabetes, short stature, thyroid disease, metabolism disorders and pubertal disorders.

Dr. Mandalapu is board-certified in internal medicine, pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. She resides in Copley with her husband and two children.
