1.0 mL respiratory specimen or specimen in M4 transport medium, 0.5 grams tissue, 1.0 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) CSF
Cause for Rejection:
Specimen dry, not in proper M4M,not refrigerated, not in sterile container, fixed in preservative, QNS
Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
Special Instructions:
Send cold on ice. Deliver to lab ASAP. Specimens received by 1100 will be processed the same day.

Reference range: Negative: No M. pneumoniae DNA detected.
