Collection Volume:
2 grams or 5mL liquid, semi-solid or solid stool.
Cause for Rejection:
Stool specimen contaminated with urine or water. Specimen containing interfering substances such as barium. Specimen sent in a diaper. Specimen sent on wooden stick. ------Specimen stored >2 hours at room temperature or stored > 24 hours at 2-8 degrees Celsius. Frozen stool will be rejected.

Refrigerated up to 24 hours at 2-8C

Special Instructions:
Test only screens for the presence of Giardia and Cryptosporidium antigen in stool. All stool specimens are preserved in Cary Blair and saved for 1 week. If the physician suspects parasitic infection other than Giardia or Cryptosporidium, call Microbiology (330-543-8412) and request Ova and Parasite Special Exam (Epic ID LAB955). (Sendout)
