Molecular Diagnostics : DNA

Specimen Type:
Plasma, Amniotic fluid, BAL, Bronch wash, Urine, CSF, Stool, Body Fluids (Note: for Congenital CMV, collect Urine)
Tube Type:
Purple top (EDTA) tube
Collection Volume:
2.5 mL blood, 0.5 mL body fluids (amniotic, resp., urine, CSF)
Cause for Rejection:
Batch testing on Monday and Thursday
Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction
Special Instructions:
Centrifuge purple top tube promptly and send 1.0 mL plasma to DNA lab, refrigerated. For Outpatients, test should only be drawn in outpatient locations within a Hospital (Akron or Beeghly)
