Many of the same trusted MyChart services you access by computer are available on your phone to deliver optimized convenience for on-the-go families.
Whether you’re away on summer vacation or just out running errands, the MyChart app puts the tools in your hands to control your children’s health care anytime, anywhere.
Download the MyChart app, available on both Apple and Android devices, and the next time you log in to the app, take advantage of these great features:
- Get cost-of-care estimates prior to receiving care. Patient families can receive cost-of-care estimates for any type of visit or procedure, including well checks or sick visits, surgical procedures, such as a tonsillectomy or ear tube placement, radiology or lab testing.
Estimates make it easier for families to plan their out-of-pocket costs for health care. They also give them a better idea as to which services are covered by insurance.
Cost-of-care estimates provide the most current pricing information available. However, unexpected costs may occur if additional testing or other services are deemed necessary.
To generate a cost estimate, click on “Estimates” under the Billing tab in the main menu after logging into the mobile app.
- Request a Share Everywhere code. Whether you’re out of town, at an urgent care or Emergency Department outside of Akron Children’s with a sick or injured child, you can grant temporary access to your child’s medical information to any provider taking care of her.
In minutes, the provider will see a subset of the same information you see when logging into MyChart, including allergies, current medications, immunizations, lab results, visit records and current health issues. In addition, the provider can write a note back to your child’s care team about care he provided.
To generate a Share Everywhere code, click on “Share Everywhere” under the Sharing tab in the main menu after logging into the mobile app. Then, select Request Share Code.
- Pre-Check in before appointments to save time at the office. You can update your child’s contact and insurance information, complete medical and family history forms, pay copays and more directly in the MyChart app, instead of at your provider’s office.
This way, you will spend less time at your visit updating your child’s medical record and more time talking about your child’s current condition and concerns.
Patient families can complete MyChart Pre-Check in 5 days before a scheduled appointment. When you receive your child’s appointment reminder via a push notification, there will be a link to complete Pre-Check-in tasks in the appointment details.
