1. Samuel was ready to cheer on the Ohio State Buckeyes in his special cranial remodeling helmet.

Samuel is being treated for a condition called positional plagiocephaly. He wears the helmet 23 hours a day.
2. One in 10 Ohio babies is born premature, including Jaelee Hill, who came into this world fighting after her birth at only 24 weeks gestation.
3. Riley Osborne’s journey to overcome her premature birth was one of many stories shared at the annual Miracles and Promises Radiothon.

Riley Osborn was given little chance to live based on complications of being born at 23 weeks gestation, but the 3 year old has been proving her doubters wrong at every step – literally.

Having experienced a traumatic childhood herself, Missy knows firsthand what some of these kids are facing.
6. As a mother of 2 healthy boys, Paige Schantz’s life was picture perfect until one day it was turned upside down. She is thankful to our Behavioral Health Services though for everything they did to help her family through some tough times.

Griffin (right) is back in school and doing well and has been accepted into Youngstown State University.
7. A decade after an accident on the Ohio Turnpike that took the life of their wife/mother, the Slattery family returned to Akron Children’s today to reunite with staff who cared so deeply for their family.

“The doctors and nurses saved his life, and the therapists gave him life,” said father Ed Slattery about his now 21-year-old son Matthew, who sat nearby.
8. The Harsh triplets spent some of their first months on the set of the new Mister Rogers movie, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, playing the role of journalist Lloyd Vogel’s child.

Jordan, Naomi and Zoey also visit us here at Akron Children’s, making visits to Dr. Gwyneth Hughes and Dr. Nancy Philip in our NeuroDevelopmental Science Center, Dr. Mamatha Kambalapalli in Endocrinology, and our physical and occupational therapists.
