1. Sonny DeAngelis went home after 192 days in the neonatal intensive care unit.
2. Art Brown has overcome sickle cell to live out his dream! As a child, he suffered from extreme fatigue and frequent pain crises. Now, he is an AirBear flight paramedic.
3. The San Francisco 49ers visited the patients at our Beeghly Campus in Boardman.

From our tiniest patients in the NICU to a resident linebacker who was ready to get back on the field, the players handed out goodies and high fives to all the patients staying at the hospital.
4. After 330+ days of care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the Norris family will be sharing their message of hope at the upcoming Walk for Babies fundraiser on Oct. 6 to help other families during their NICU journey.
6. Meet Jayden “Super Jay” Wallace, age 16, of Akron! Jayden was 9 when 24% of his body was covered in third-degree burns. He was a hero patient for FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon and Team Relay.

Jayden endured months of painful surgeries, dressing changes and therapies to heal his wounds and get back to playing sports and just being a kid.
7. Harper Cunningham recently traveled to New York City for the National Down Syndrome Society annual Buddy Walk.
9. The Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders held their annual family picnic at the Akron RubberDucks game at Canal Park in Downtown Akron.

More than 800 attended the annual cancer awareness picnic to celebrate their loved ones’ strength and determination during treatment.
