Jane Beight is the first Akron Children’s Hospital employee to win the Association for Medical Imaging Management (AHRA) Award of Excellence.
Working in the radiology profession for more than 40 years, Jane Beight has always tried to go above and beyond to demonstrate compassion for others. That sentiment, along with her clinical skills and professionalism led to her winning the AHRA Award for Excellence, which she accepted in July at the Association for Medical Imaging Management (AHRA) annual meeting in Denver.
AHRA is the professional organization representing management at all levels of hospital imaging departments, freestanding imaging centers, and group practices.
“I am honored and very surprised to have been nominated for this prestigious award,” Beight said. “To be a recipient of the AHRA Award of Excellence is amazing and rewarding.”
The national award is presented each year to 5 AHRA members who have made a difference for their coworkers and colleagues through leadership, innovation, administrative capabilities, and sharing of experience and expertise. She’s the first-ever Akron Children’s Hospital recipient.
Ryan Pavlak, radiology supervisor at the Beeghly campus, nominated Beight for the award.
“In the past 3 years of knowing and learning from Jane, I have grown dramatically as a leader,” he said. “She is a kind and compassionate leader that is never afraid to get in the mix and help any of her departments personally.”

Mahoning Valley Radiology Supervisor Ryan Pavlak nominated Beight for the award, citing her inspirational and compassionate leadership as standout qualities.
Beight first began her radiology career in 1978 as a staff radiographer and mammography technologist at Jameson Hospital in New Castle, Pa.
Quickly demonstrating her leadership skills, she progressed through numerous leadership positions throughout her time at the hospital, including director of diagnostic services in 2010.
In 2016, she started a new journey, joining Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley as the radiology department manager.
Beight has made it a priority to never stop learning, becoming the first in Northeast Ohio to achieve Certified Radiology Administrator® (CRA) accreditation in November 2017.
“The imaging field has changed very rapidly during my career,” she said. “I consider leading others through these changes while keeping our focus on quality, compassionate patient care my greatest contribution.”

Beight accepted her Award of Excellence at the AHRAs annual conference in Denver.
