On Saturday, July 13, Akron Children’s hosted a community open house to celebrate its new office at 1149 Lincoln Way E. in Massillon.
The event’s ribbon-cutting ceremony included remarks from the hospital’s president and CEO, Grace Wakulchik, who recognized Akron Children’s commitment to caring for kids and the value convenient access to care provides today’s busy families. The hospital’s chaplain, Matthew Tweddle, dedicated the building.

The single-story, 14,000-square-foot building is the new home for primary care and rehabilitation services for Massillon-area children.
The Arbuckle family of Massillon shared words of gratitude for bringing care closer to home for 4-year-old Silas, who has cerebral palsy.
“We are thrilled to have this location in Massillon. We counted down the days until the new building opened,” Silas’ mom, Sarah, shared. “This facility is just 5 minutes from home, and we can schedule back-to-back therapy appointments for Silas. Akron Children’s staff members work as a team, and they create hope for families.”

The whole family of Silas Arbuckle came to the open house to show support for the care he receives at Akron Children’s.
The open house included a scavenger hunt to guide guests through the building; summer-themed cookies and activities including sidewalk chalk and Hula-Hoops; a magician to entertain visitors of all ages, and a photo booth where families could pose for pictures and make prints to take home.

The single-story, 14,000-square-foot building is the new home for Akron Children’s Hospital Pediatrics (ACHP), Massillon that cares for patients from birth through age 21. Pediatrician Dr. Catherine Yost and Family Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Messenger are accepting new patients.

The facility offers rehabilitation services – including physical, occupational and speech therapies – as well as sports rehabilitation. Audiology services will be added in the fall.

Rehabilitation services features equipment for kids of all ages.
Information such as office hours and physicians is also located in Akron Children’s new app. Akron Children’s Anywhere app, which is available for both Android and Apple devices, is free and puts a variety of health-care tools in the palm of your hand.
