Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation visited the warm and welcoming climate of Florida to update our donors on the exciting work going on at the hospital and the important role our donors play in that work.
The first event was the annual donor luncheon in Naples on January 29, 2019. Guests were welcomed by John Orr, chairman, hospital board of directors, and listened to hospital updates from Akron Children’s President and CEO Grace Wakulchik, as well from Dr. John Crow, chairman, department of surgery and director, Paul and Carol David Foundation Burn Institute.
Julie Pratt shared her family’s emotional story of how the burn center helped her son, Sam.

The second event was a donor reception in Sarasota on February 15, 2019. Paul Dutton, chairman, foundation board of directors, and his wife Sallie Tod Dutton, welcomed donors and thanked them for attending. The event also included hospital updates from Ms. Wakulchik, as well from Dr. Robert McGregor, chief medical officer. Many also had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Orr and William Considine, CEO emeritus.
Attendees heard from Russell and Stephanie Rich, and their daughter Charlotte. The Russells, who live in Tampa, travel to Akron Children’s for their daughter’s treatment at the Vision Center with Richard Hertle, M.D. The Rich family has been coming to Akron several times a year for the treatment of their daughter’s nystagmus.

Philanthropic support is critical to the hospital’s mission to provide world-class care and turn no child away for any reason, including inability to pay and we appreciate the opportunity to thank so many of our supporters who have made special projects possible at the hospital.
