As a former collegiate sprinter, Dr. Jacqueline Branch is known for being fast on her feet, but as a developmental pediatrician at Akron Children’s she’s better known for taking her time and listening to patients’ needs. Dr. Branch sees patients in the NeuroDevelopmental Science Center where she evaluates, treats and advocates for children and teens with developmental or behavioral problems, including speech and language delays, tic, Tourette syndrome, autism, ADHD, epilepsy and other genetic disorders.
Q: My Monday morning must have is___.
A: COFFEE! Actually, coffee is an every morning must have for me. One thing I’ve been missing since moving to the area is a nearby Tim Horton’s.
Q: What emoji do you use the most?
A: The red heart. My sisters and I are always texting pictures of our kids to each other so my quick response is usually the heart. I love their kids, my kids and all kids!
Q: What did you eat for breakfast?
A: I ate a banana and a blueberry muffin for breakfast today. I’m not a morning person so I need something quick and easy.
Q: Who makes up your family?
A: My family includes my husband, Andrew, and my two children, Sadie (2) and Dean (7 months). We’re always busy and love to be outside. We’re looking forward to exploring all of the parks in the area.
Q: What is the last thing you do before you go to sleep?
A: Kiss my kids goodnight.
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I grew up in Fredonia, New York, which is a small town south of Buffalo. My parents still live near there and I love to visit!
Q: When you curl up on the couch to watch a movie, are you most likely to have a bowl of popcorn, chocolate or box of tissues?
A: I’m most likely to have popcorn AND chocolate. I love sweet and salty! My favorite movie is The Thomas Crown Affair, but lately we’ve been watching a lot of Moana.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents or something people may not know about you?
A: I have been inducted into both my high school and college athletic halls of fame. I was a sprinter on the track and field team at Denison University and was just inducted in their hall of fame last year. I still hold records in the 4×200 and 4×400-meter relays and 55-meter dash for indoor track and field, and the 4×100 and 4×400-meter relays for outdoor track and field.
Q: What’s your favorite sport team?
A: I love watching football! My favorite teams are the Buffalo Bills and the Michigan Wolverines (even though I’m probably not supposed to say that in Ohio). Go Bills! Go Blue!
Q: What was your first paying job?
A: Babysitting. I have always loved being around kids and still do!
