The Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation recognized the hospital’s distinguished donors with special events in Akron and the Mahoning Valley this week.
Akron – 2018 Champions for Children
Rennick and Dee Dee Anderoli were honored on May 10 at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn as the recipients of the 2018 Children’s Champion Award for their dedication to the well-being of children and families in Akron.
“The Andreolis have been long-standing philanthropic leaders in our community,” said Bill Considine, CEO, Akron Children’s Hospital. “They have a heart for serving children and families, and have shown that in a very tangible way by remodeling facilities at the Akron Rotary Camp, Ronald McDonald House of Akron and at Akron Children’s to ensure families have the best experience possible.”

The Andreolis have also established the Champions for Children Endowment Fund, which assists children and their families who are receiving medical treatment at Akron Children’s. Assistance from the fund may include housing and utility assistance; groceries and other nutritional needs; transportation assistance and medical prescription and health insurance needs.

“At the time when families are under the stresses of a child in the hospital, we want there to be a resource to give them some relief and lessen their everyday financial burdens,” said Rennick Anderoli.

Mahoning Valley – 8th annual Champions for Our Valley’s Children
On May 8, The Lake Club in Poland, Ohio, hosted hospital supporters and staff as Reid and Judy Schmutz received the 2018 Champion for Our Valley’s Children award. Their impact has led to the expansion of services and programs at the Beeghly campus.

“Reid and Judy Schmutz are pillars of our community, and generous donors to the hospital’s growth and continued well-being,” said JoAnn Stock, senior director of development at Akron Children’s Hospital. “We’re so appreciative of the selfless philanthropic support of all of our donors, and this event allows us to honor and recognize them for helping us drive our mission.”

The Children’s Advocate Award acknowledges individuals and organizations who express the spirit of caring throughout the Mahoning Valley, and strive to make a difference in the lives of children in the community.
