Loyal supporters and special friends gathered in Naples, Florida, for an opportunity to reconnect and learn more about the new leadership and the exciting plans for Akron Children’s Hospital.
A total of 67 attendees met Grace Wakulchik, the new president of Akron Children’s Hospital, and Greg McDermott, Chairman of Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation. Grace and Greg shared news about the growing footprint of the hospital in Northeast Ohio – including new health centers in Boston Heights, North Canton, Mansfield and Portage County. They also discussed the hospital’s strategic plan, which will take Akron Children’s into the future with focuses on quality, growth, patient experience and research.
Cathy Clark, a member of the Women’s Board and a long-time supporter of Akron Children’s, was impressed with the new hospital president.
“She is a great asset to the hospital,” Cathy said. Cathy was also glad to see so many people at the event and hear the individual stories of why they are supporters of Akron Children’s.

The event was hosted by Greg and his wife, Jackie McDermott, and the Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation. Greg said the event was an opportunity to meet with supporters and learn more about the Florida connections to Akron Children’s Hospital.
“It was wonderful to see so many special friends and loyal supporters of Akron Children’s,” Greg said. “We hope that learning more about the great things happening at the hospital highlights the importance of staying connected with our donors, no matter where they are.”
