The Detweiler brothers, Joshua (left) and Levi, both have super powers: strength and courage!
Joshua Detweiler, 6, is no stranger to Akron Children’s Hospital. His younger brother sees specialists and therapists related to cerebral palsy, so when Joshua started showing gastroenterology-related symptoms, we knew where we could trust to take him for excellent care.
Now Joshua has a diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis, which is one type of inflammatory bowel disease. It’s a big battle for a little kid, so we rely on his superhero identity, “The Colitis Fighter,” for super strength and courage!
Josh receives IV infusions at Akron Children’s infusion center and sees Dr. (Sirvart) Kassabian in the Gastroenterology Office. At his most recent infusion, he donned his superhero costume and distributed Christmas cards to his nurses and other patients in the infusion center. Josh loves encouraging others even in the midst of his own difficulties!
