Student Brady Ryba is so appreciative of the care from Akron Children’s nursing team at his school — Stephanie Rost, MA (at right) and Missy Pipa, RN — he wrote a persuasive essay about it.
10-year-old Brady Ryba of Heritage Elementary School in Medina City Schools took a writing assignment to heart and wanted others to know how the school nurse from Akron Children’s Hospital needs “to be respected.”
Medical Assistant Stephanie Rost, who has cared for Brady, was thrilled to see his kind words so she shared with manager Missy Pipa, RN, who forwarded to us.
Read on to see how compassionate Brady is! Maybe a future doctor or nurse himself?
Assignment from Teacher: Think of a topic or issue that you know and care about. Write an opinion or argument text in which you will write your opinion and claim, and tell reasons why you feel that way.
Brady’s essay: I think that we should notice our school nurse more. All we think she does is clean up our boo boos, and ouchies. Well, let me tell you, she does more.
One reason is, she will give you ice. Our nurse, Miss Stephanie cares about you. Say, you bump heads, she will give you ice.
Another reason is, that if you get bumps, cuts and bruises, Miss Stephanie will give you Band-Aids, and help you clean up your cuts.

Medical Assistant Mrs. Stephanie is always there for Brady and every other student at Heritage Elementary School.
My third reason is, that if you fall in the mud, she won’t laugh at you, because that’s not kind. But she will give you a change of clothes and make you feel better.
My fourth reason is, actually something that happened to me. On picture day in second grade, I fainted off the risers. After that Mrs. Federinko helped me to the nurse’s office and Mrs. Stephanie took it from there. She took my temperature and called my mom.
Now do you believe that we need to notice our school nurse more? Yeah, that’s what I thought. So next time you go to the nurse office, please, show her some respect, because she does a lot around here to keep you, and the whole school safe from germs, viruses, and becoming sick.
So, as I said before, please, notice our school nurse more.
